Our congregation is made up of folks ages 0-90.We are active and volunteer in our community in a variety of ways:with immigration issues, starting a food co-op, participating in a voluntary gas tax group, helping out at food pantries, and mental health facilities, and a variety of other activities.We are made up of folks who grew up Mennonite or Amish and those from other denominations.Most of us have not grown up in the Shenandoah Valley but now call it home.We seek to be a welcoming, safe place for all people.We are a faith community that is always incorporating new folks and saying goodbye to those called to different places.

Our congregation received a check in the amount of $96.50 from MMA. This check reflects a 50% grant to help cover the costs of Emily's attendance to the educational workshop at Laurelville in January.
Shalom Mennonite Congregation is looking for an Education Coordinator to facilitate our children's and adult's Christian education program and chair our Education Committee.This flexible paid position requires 3-5 hours per week from August-May. On May 17th Shalom will do a congregational service project at Crossing Creeks.Typical workday schedule is to gather around 9:00 or so, with projects from 9:00-12:00.Potluck lunch follows at 12:30 usually.Additional details about the service projects will be passed along as they are known. The Intensive English Program at Eastern Mennonite University seeks hosts families for young people from other countries for three different summer programs: May 5-July 16; July 21-August 8; and August 4-August 15. Host families provide lodging, breakfast, and dinner, transportation to and from EMU and social interaction for students. Compensation: $130.00 per week.
